As excitied as I for the start of the NFL season, it is now week 3 and I don't have too much to add for now.
Since my last post, the Blue Bombers have demonstrated no lack of crappiness, and were blown out badly twice. They did manage to get the win this week over the 3-8 Ticats but I stand by my 6 win maximum prediction.
On the other hand, I thought the top 2 teams in the CFL were the BC Lions and the Eskimos. Sadly, my Esks have corrected me on this matter and moved off this list. It is now the Lions and Stamps. Lions aren't making many mistakes and are consistently good on O and D. Stamps are making mistakes but their D should improve with Baggs, and they are looking quite good, still with their backup quarterback Glenn. The Esks were within a missed kick of beating the Stamps on both games, and lost by 1 to the Lions last night after a 46 yd field goal in the last minute. The Esks could come back if their D line returns to healthy. But the offense is so inconsistent. And with 3 great running backs, there shouldn't be much need for a passing game. Yet the Esks don't have the best running game in the CFL yet. The Als, they are good as usual, but not good enough or improving. The Argos have shown some potential but are inconsistent.
As far as the NHL lockout goes, I don't sympathize with either side. Millionaire hockey players, Billionaire owners. Owners want the players to get less, as revenue has gone up substantially. But unlike the last strike, players have an option. Many are able to go to the KHL, or Swiss and Swedish leagues. I predict the owners will blink first during the lockout, as they are losing money with the lockout and not all players are.
